What is your reaction to Kanye West’s outburst towards Taylor Swift’s win at the 2009 VMA awards? On the other hand, what did you think of Beyonce stepping aside during her acceptance speech to let Taylor finish hers?
Freshman, Preston Ryan:
“I think that West’s “outburst” was fine, he was simply stating his opinion for another musician. I also think that Beyoncé stepping aside was very flattering to Taylor, though I think Taylor didn’t deserve it.”
Junior, Julia Jordan:
“I think it was ridiculous and childish. He had no right to do that and, really, no reason. Beyoncé’s response was practically the exact opposite. It showed a lot of compassion and maturity.”
Freshman, Anna Shippy:
“I was very surprised that Kanye West would do such a thing to a sweet person like Taylor Swift. That was such a rude thing to do. It was very nice of Beyoncé to step aside and let Taylor finish her speech. That shows true character.”
Senior, Matt Nolte:
“He is a complete jerk, it isn’t what he thinks. It showed a great deal of character for her (Beyoncé) to do that.”
