Did you know that Hays was once at the bottom of a huge, warm, Cretaceous Sea several hundred feet deep? Or that Hays has an annual precipitation of 21.85 inches? These are just two of the 101 fun facts that can be found on the Hays website.
When asked whether they were aware that there was a Hays website or not, the majority of students were clueless and did not know that it existed. This is not “Hays Has Jobs” but an actual city website consisting of the history of Hays, upcoming community events, and specific pages for visitors and residents.
Hays is the largest city in Northwest Kansas with approximately 20,000 residents and was incorporated in 1885. These are a few things found in the introduction paragraph displayed next to the rotation of different pictures on the main page of the Hays website. Further down in the paragraph you have the option to click on a link and see other information about the city and its history.
By visiting this website you can learn many new things about the city that you live in, even if you have lived here your entire life. You can scroll through all the different places there are to eat, the many attractions that can be found, the shopping that the city consists of and the entertainment that the city provides.
