China was the topic of discussion on Sept 29 at the International club’s second meeting.
They talked about the main attractions of China and some of its history. Vegetarian Chinese food was served and they even had special guest speakers.
Will, Cathy and Vivian, Chinese students attending Fort Hays, shared their life and a little about what life in China is like and the high demand of English teachers. They explained a few of the Chinese characters and how the words were developed and explained the differences in between English and Chinese. They talked about how high schools were much harder and how difficult it is to get into college.
The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 22. They will begin work with the Book club on “Three Cups of Tea”, a book explaining some traditions in Afghanistan to kick off the study of the country.
The cost to join is a onetime fee of $5.
