With 85 units of blood collected, the annual fall HHS StuCo Blood Drive on Nov. 10 was an overall success. Although the goal of 95 units was not met, Melinda Cross, StuCo sponsor, said the director of the blood drive program, Dawn Gable, was pleased.
In addition to the regular mode of blood donation, the Alyx machine was also available for use. With the use of the Alyx machine, the same amount of blood is given, but more components of the blood are able to be used. A person using the Alyx machine is able to give two complete blood transfusions at once.
“This year four people used the Alyx machine,” Cross said. “Three students and one adult.”
Cross was happy with the overall turnout of the blood drive.
“Everything went well. We got what we thought we would get.”[polldaddy poll=2418872]
