Emerson places at regional Poetry Out Loud
Senior Elizabeth Emerson took second place at the regional Poetry Out Loud Competition in Quinter on Feb. 5.
Each contestant had to memorize and recite two pieces of poetry in front of a panel of judges. Because she took second, Emerson will go to state if the winner from Palco is unable.
Emerson said the results were very close, so she is proud of how she placed.
“You get to meet a lot of fun people who have a common likeness with reciting poetry,” Emerson said. “It’s a way for people to express themselves and tell a story through poetry.”
