Though they were in and out throughout the day, about 30 people helped during the blood drive on Nov. 8. That amount, doubled, is about how many donated.

“We had 57 students and then we had walk-ins, teachers and other staff members,” StuCo sponsor Alicia Brungardt said.

As this is Brungardt’s first year being a StuCo sponsor, she doesn’t know the school’s record, but for the upcoming drive on March 7, she is hoping to increase their donation intake.

“We want to meet or exceed donations,” Brungardt said. “However, there is a restriction placed on us by the time and number of red cross workers who are available during the day of the blood drive.”

Brungardt said they may or may not make 60 units, but StuCo also wants the drive to run smoother. They have plans to make that happen.

Brungardt said she wonders what kept more people from donating, but thanks those that did come out.

“What they did is a good thing,” Brungardt said. “It helps the community, it helps our hospitals and it helps the sick which is what we are trying to do and we managed to do that, at least for that day.”
