Organ Donations

Nobody is promised a second chance or another breath. Life-threatening things can happen to anyone and can happen at any time.

According to house.gov, over 79,000 patients are currently waiting for an organ transplant and nearly 3,000 new patients are added to the waiting list each month. Every day, 16 to 17 people die while waiting for a transplant.

Many teenagers receiving their driver’s license are given the option of whether or not they want to be an organ donor in the case that something may happen. If you do not have a driver’s license you also have the option of signing and carrying a donor card. By donating organs you have the chance to save as many as eight lives.

“It’s a wonderful gift,” nurse Jill Pollock said. “It can be life saving. I would encourage all students to have a conversation with their family about signing their driver’s license.”
