Indian soccer wins season opener

Senior Christian Bills scored two second-half goals two minutes apart to help lead the Indian soccer team to a 5-3 win in its Sept. 3 season opener at Buhler.
Bills scored the goals in the 71st and 73rd minute with assists from senior Spenser Johnson and sophomore Hunter Wilkens, respectively.
Earlier in the match, the two teams battled to a 2-2 halftime tie. Scoring for the Indians were freshman Kellen Griffin in the 16th minute and junior Trey Herman in the 40th minute with an assist from junior Caden Junk.
After the intermission, junior Devin Schmidt scored the third Indian goal in the 47th minute with an assist from freshman Ethan Fort.
In goal for the Indians was Wilkens.
The next action for the Indians will be Monday at 2 p.m. when they face Independence in the McPherson Tournament.
