New Practice for Spring Sports

A new recommendation for spring sport athletes is to participate in zero hour. For some, their coaches have made it mandatory.
“Off season conditioning is important to improve as individual athletes, prevent injuries, and work towards being successful,” Coach Ryan Cornelsen said.
Zero hour gives athletes the opportunity to improve physical strength, physical endurance, lateral speed and quickness, and overall athletic ability. It starts every morning at 7:30 and every day after school at 3:30. Each session only lasts about 45 minutes, but high intensity is expected.
All athletes are encouraged to participate. At this point there is an average of about 50 athletes who participate a day, but those numbers are expected to jump after Christmas break when spring sports season is closer.
