The Hays High Indians boy’s basketball team beat Dodge City, ranked fourth in class 6A, Tuesday 56-49.

Senior Tyler Rathke led the Indians in points with 14 and had eight in the first quarter.

The Indians are now tied for first place in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) with Dodge City. Hays High also won WAC in football and wrestling this year and are hoping to at least share the title in basketball.

In the first half the Indians led by as many as 12 points and in the second half the lead was cut down to two points but never went below that.

In the fourth quarter of the game Hays High only made two baskets, but they made enough free throws to win the game.

At the game it was senior night honoring all seven of the seniors. Seniors Derek Meyer, Bryant Bombardier, Dexter Pfeifer, Travis Pfannenstiel, Dan Moritz, Jordan Neirnberger, and Rathke.

So far this season the Indians are undefeated at home.

The next game is Friday at Great Bend if they win they will at least share a WAC title with Dodge.
