The Lady Indians basketball team came away with a 45-41 win against Liberal on Feb. 13.

The victory improved their record to 4-12 in the season.

In the first quarter, Liberal led the quarter 12-11. In the second quarter, Hays lead the scoring 14-10. The score at the half was Hays, 25-22. In the third quarter, Hays outscored Liberal by a 13-3 margin to take a commanding 38-25 lead. However, Liberal made things interesting in the final stanza, outscoring the Indians, 16-7, to account for the final score.

Audra Schmeidler scored 16 points, shooting 4-11 inside the arc. She had five rebounds and one assist. Talyn Kleweno added seven points, and Brooke Russell scored six.

Rounding out the scoring were Summer Smith with five points, Maddie Keller and Mattie Schlaefli with four, and Nicole Dinkel with three.
