Boys basketball takes fifth place at Tournament of Champions

The boys basketball team won two out of their three games at the Dodge City Tournament of Champions. Their first game was against Wichita East, on Jan. 21.
The Indians fell to the Blue Aces after playing hard and staying ahead for a good portion of the game. The final score was 61-63.
Leading the Indians in points was Shane Berens with 19 points. Also in double digits was Keith Dryden with 15. Rounding out the scoring was Isaiah Nunnery with nine, Maddux Winter with six, Laken Jacobs with four, and Ethan Nunnery and Tyrese Hill with two points each.
The second game of the boys’ tournament was played against Hutchinson on Jan. 22.
The Indians defeated the Salthawks, 71-32.
Leading in points was Shane Berens with 18 points. Other players in double digits were Drew Young with 16 and Isaiah Nunnery with 15. Finishing out the points were Ethan Nunnery with nine, Keith Dryden with five, Marcus Altman with four, Dylan Davis with two, and Laken Jacobs and Maddux Winter with one point each.
The Indians’ third final game was against Dodge City, and was their second victory of the tournament. The game’s final score was 59-43.
Leading the team in points was Isaiah Nunnery with 16 points. Also in double digits were Drew Young and Shane Berens with 12 points each and Keith Dryden with 11 points. Rounding out the scoring was Ethan Nunnery, Maddux Winter, Tyrese Hill and Laken Jacobs all with two points.
The boys basketball team took fifth place overall.
The Indians’ next game will be against Dodge City again on January 29.
