Going into the Garden City Buffalos vs. Hays High Indians game Sept. 23, the Indians were looking hard for a win, but just couldn’t quite accomplish what they had come for.

In the first quarter, nothing much happened for the Indians. On the Buffalos side, quarterback Jesse Nunez threw to Brodie Stabel for the 20 yard touchdown. The Buffalos took the opportunity to try for a two-point conversion, which was successful, making the score 8-0.

Following a Buffalo touchdown, junior quarterback hit senior Kohlton Meyers from a 30 yard pass to assist Meyers in a 32 yard run that put the Indians in the Buffalo end zone. Indians then took the opportunity for a 26 yard field goal which was rejected by the wind, giving the Buffalos the ball at their own 20 yard line.

The second quarter was, again, in the Buffalos favor. Nunez scored a one yard touchdown following by another two point conversion to bump up the score 16-0. Indians didn’t make anything of its next possession, which led to the Buffalos getting the ball back and scoring another touchdown and two point conversion expanding the lead to 24-0.

Both teams came up scoreless in the third quarter, but in the fourth quarter Nunez was able to score the Buffalos fourth touchdown of the night, which led to a 34-0 victory.

The Indians are now 1-3 on the season, and 0-3 in the Western Athletic Conference. The Indians will defend their home territory Sept. 30 against Valley Center on homecoming night.
