Boys basketball falls to Liberal Redskins; 42-70

The boys basketball team played the Liberal Redskins on Jan. 7.
The Indians started off the game hot, going on a 9-3 run.
Hays’ lead increased to 14-7 with one minute left in the first quarter. Hays ended the quarter tied 16-16.
The Indians only scored nine points in the second quarter; Liberal going on a 22-2 run. Liberal built their lead to 14 by the end of the half. The score was 39-25 going into half-time.
Hays came out of the half slow, allowing Liberal to increase their lead to 30 points. Liberal ended the third quarter with a lead of 62-32.
Hays finished the game, losing 42-70. Hays shot only 25 percent from the three-point line, with Liberal shooting 53 percent.
The team next plays at Great Bend on Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
