Jackie Balzer: Co-Editor-in-Chief
Jackie Balzer is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Guidon. It is her third year on the newspaper staff and she is a senior this year. Aside from newspaper, she is also captain of the flag team. Other activities that she is involved in are Leadership Team and youth group at North Oak Community Church. She works at Taco Shop and also works babysitting for various families and church events. Her future plans are to possibly attend Fort Hays State University and major in nursing. Her favorite things to do on weekends are hanging out with friends and going to the movie theater.

Erica Staab: Co-Editor-in-Chief
As Co-Editor-In-Chief, Erica Staab is excited to lead the Guidon staff this year. This is her third year on the staff. Outside of newspaper, Erica enjoys writing creatively, hanging out with friends, listening to music and having a blast doing Karate. She also works at Taco Shop. During school, Erica is involved in band, debate, forensics and Book Club. She is excited to finally be a senior and plans on attending KU after graduation.

Anna Shippy: Online Editor
Anna Shippy is in her second year of being on the newspaper staff. She is the Online Editor for the paper and has high hopes to bring the Guidon Online to its best. She participates in Dance Team, Leadership Team, Spirit Club and Stuco. She works at Dairy Queen on the weekends. Outside of school she dances for Jackie Creamer’s Vision Dance Company. In her free time she enjoys watching tv and spending time with her boyfriend.

Kellen Griffin: Sports Editor
Kellen Griffin is in his third year as part of the Guidon staff. He is the Sports Editor for the paper. Extracurricular activities that he is involved in are soccer, track, intramurals, Stuco and Math Relays. In his free time he enjoys playing his Xbox 360, playing soccer and being with his girlfriend.

Molly Willhoft: Photo Editor
Molly Willhoft is a junior and one of the photographers for the Guidon. This will be her first year on the paper. She also participates in volleyball, softball, Webteam, Spirit Club and Stuco. Her future plans are to go to FHSU for her general education, then onto something in the medical field. Molly appreciates the opportunity to be on the paper. She also hopes readers enjoy her photos.

Katelyn Hecker: Photo Editor
Katelyn Hecker is a senior this year. This is her first year of newspaper. She will be taking photographs for the staff and paper. During the fall, she plays tennis and helps manage the wrestling team during the winter. After graduating, she plans on attending Fort Hays State and getting a degree in elementary education.

Rachel Moravek: Staff Reporter/Cartoonist
Rachel Moravek is a sophomore and has been in newspaper for two years. Her freshman year she was the paper’s cartoonist and keeps the title as cartoonist this year. This is also Rachel’s first year of staff reporting. School activities she participates in are band and book club. In her free time Rachel loves to read and discover new music. She plans on going to go to college at K-State University to major in journalism and minor in psychology.

Laurissa Marcotte: Staff Reporter
Laurissa Marcotte is a senior and a first-year staff reporter for the Guidon. She teaches gymnastics at Heartland Academy of Gymnastics and plays flute for the band. Her interests include science, writing and music.

Madeline Trout: Staff Reporter
Madeline Trout is a senior starting her first year in newspaper as a staff reporter. She is involved in band, chamber singers, musical, spring play, NHS, and debate. She plans on attending college at the University of South Alabama, pre-med. Madeline enjoys alternative rock, the Beatles and traveling. She intends on sky diving within the next few years and hiking across the Appalachian Mountains for unknown reasons. In her spare time she spends her hours crocheting blankets, seating people at Carlos O’Kelly’s and living a fulfilled after-school life.

Delphine Burns: Staff Reporter
Delphine Burns is a junior and this is her second year as a staff reporter for the Guidon. She is involved in chamber singers, musical, swimming and the spring play. She moved to Hays six years ago from Santa Cruz, California and has lived in six states. Her future plans include attending college in California. One day, she hopes to be on Broadway, but is also interested in marine biology. She enjoys playing guitar, drawing, drinking thai iced tea and watching Glee. When she’s older, she wants to own two hairless cats named Batman and Spatula. She also loves applesauce.
Dustin Mulkey: Staff Reporter
Dustin Mulkey, junior, is a first year staff reporter for the newspaper. In addition to newspaper, he participates in musical, Concert Choir and Chamber Singers and his favorite subjects in school are math, science, and english. He also is an active member in Lifeguard, a youth group, and works at Wal-Mart. His favorite things to do on the weekends are to spend time with family and friends.

Kendall Kandt is a sophomore staff reporter for the Guidon. He participates in cross country and track. Outside of school he likes to hang out with friends and practice running. He also likes working with computers and graphic design.

Kylee Filley: Assistant Sports Editor
Kylee Filley is on her second year of being a staff reporter for the newspaper staff. Kylee is 16 years old and a junior. She participates in Spirit Club, Leadership Team, Yearbook and Stuco. She works part-time at Dairy Queen. Her future plans including going to Kansas University for medical school. She hopes to become a physical therapist one day and live in her home town of Hays. Kylee is excited to write many stories for newspaper this year and if anyone has a story idea she’s open to hearing it.

Rylie Scott: Staff Reporter
Rylie Scott is senior and joining her first year on newspaper as a staff reporter. She also joined the yearbook staff for her final year. Along with the publication classes, she is involved in musical, spring play and manages the boys swim team. In her spare time she spends her life serving at Pizza Hut to save up to begin college at FHSU where she will be earning her licensure in psychology with a minor in creative writing. She loves listening to music such as Green Day, Panic! at the Disco, and John Mayer. But when she isn’t hard at work she enjoys spending time with her friends and enjoying her senior year.
