A dangerous addiction

You check your phone the second you wake up, and right before you go to bed, but what about during school?

The urge to text has caused problems at home, on the road, and now at school.  The school policy clearly states that there are no cell phones allowed out from 8:15 a.m. when classes begin until 3:08 p.m. when the bell rings.  Why don’t kids follow this rule?  The answer is simple—they are addicted.

As result of a recent survey, 84 percent of students interviewed said that they do indeed text during school hours.  Why so many?

“I text because none of my friends are in my classes,” one student said. “This way we can still talk even though we are in different parts of the school.”

On the other hand, the 16 percent of students interviewed that do not text during class also have an opinion.

“Texting during class is bad, because it distracts students from their work,” one student said.  “When it comes time for a test, the students have no idea what is going on, and fail.”

Texting during class has become a big issue, and there is only one way to put a stop to it—figure out how students get away with it.

“I just put my phone in my jacket pocket and when a teacher comes, I just drop it back in there,” another student said.
