This upcoming Monday will mark the date of the annual Winter Concert. Chamber Singers, Full Chord Press, Orchestra, Concert Band and smaller ensembles will perform at Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center.

The Concert Choir we will be performing “Famine Song” by Vida, “Hodie!” by John Leavitt and “Ave Maria” by Giulio Caccini.

“I think the songs we are performing are very well written and extremely fun to perform,” freshman choir member Ryan Will said. “I feel prepared enough.”

The band will be playing “Into the Storm”, “Celebration of Carols” and the “Star Spangled Banner.” The band’s rendition of the national anthem is for the 200 year anniversary of its composition.

“I really like this year’s songs and I feel very prepared,” junior concert band member Emily Prine said. “We have been working really hard these past few weeks to get into the swing of concert band, and I think it’s paying off.”

Orchestra will be performing pieces called “Still, Still”, “Charlie Brown” and “English Christmas Collage”.

“The songs really differ in difficulty, for both Concert Choir and Orchestra,” freshman orchestra and choir member Erin Adams said. “For the group performances, the “Hallelujah Chorus” is rather difficult on the bass and to sing due to the crazy amount of shifting on the bass and the jumping of notes while singing. It makes those high notes rather difficult to reach. I mostly feel prepared. Although it would be best to work on the group numbers a bit more, we may need it.”

Chamber Singers will be performing and premiering the same pieces they did at the Cathedral Concert this past weekend.

The music program will be collecting canned goods that night as an entry fee to help with the Holiday Help Project.
