District KMEA to perform Dec. 5

District KMEA qualifiers practice during seminar.

The district KMEA choir qualifiers will perform on Dec. 5 for the district KMEA honor choir. Students who qualified have been practicing most of the pieces since their auditions on Nov. 7.

Of those students, sophomore Kayla Satomi said she is excited to participate in the concert.

“My favorite song is the ‘Angels Carol,’” Satomi said. “This is my first year of being involved in district KMEA.”

Sophomore Adam Klausmeyer said “Angels Carol” is also his favorite piece.

“’Angels Carol’ is definitely my favorite song,” Klausmeyer said. “This is my first year participating in district KMEA honor choir and I think it is incredibly fun. I can’t wait to experience this again.”

Junior Rachelle Lumpkins and freshman Madison Lisman said “Celebration” is the song they most enjoy.

“We’ve all worked really hard,” Lumpkins said. “I’m honestly ready to just be done with it. This is my third year of participating in district KMEA.”

Lisman said she looks forward to the concert.

“This is the first time I’ve been in district KMEA,” Lisman said. “The songs are really fun to sing and I can’t wait to perform them for an audience.”

Sophomore Erin Adams said “Animal Crackers” is her favorite song this year.

“It’s pretty hard to just choose one song,” Adams said. “I really like the way that ‘Animal Crackers’ sounds with the accompaniment. A lot of us have been working hard on the songs and I think this is going to be a good experience. This is my first year of being involved in district KMEA.”
