Senior Grant Coffman pitches perfect game in Russell double header

The boys baseball team has a winning record of 2-0 after winning both games in their double header against Russell.

The score of the first game was 10-0 and the second was 6-0.

In the first game, senior Tyrone Wynn, junior Dawson Harman and sophomore Treyton Riggs had two runs each and seniors Jace Armstrong and Grant Coffman, junior Cole Murphy and sophomore William Sennett each had one run.

In the second game, seniors Jace Armstrong, Grant Coffman and Tryone Wynn, junior Trey Vanpelt and sophomores Cody Petersen and William Sennett each had one run.

During the second game, senior Grant Coffman pitched a perfect game. The first one in Hays High history.

“A perfect game is where there are no hits or walks,” Coffman said.

There were also no errors made during the game.

“It was a pretty cool feeling,” Coffman said. “Being on the field with some of my best friends and all of them attacking me and congratulating me.”

Coffman credits his supporters for getting him to where he is today.

“All of my coaches and teammates who have help me get better every day,” Coffman said. “My parents too. And I want to give the credit to my defense, they played phenomenal behind me and made great plays.”
