The iPhone changed Sept. 13 with the release of iOS 10. The update changed a multitude of things but drastically affected the way people text.

“The gif board, that is so cool,” sophomore Brittani Park said. “That is my favorite part.”

With the new update comes the chance to text with a gentle effect, a loud effect, a slam effect or even invisible ink. Other options include balloons, confetti, lasers, shooting stars or firework.

“I like the messages, like how you can do more with it,” senior Alyssa Bryant said.

The update also includes the ability to see a texting conversation without opening the messaging app.

“My favorite part is when you slide down on the messages and it shows the whole conversation instead of just the one text,” sophomore Emily George said.

The update allows for easier access to different applications on the home screen.

“I like the fact that you can go straight to the music from the lock screen,” freshman Addison Speier said.

The update was released six days after the long-waited iPhone 7. The phone comes in five different colors – silver, gold, rose gold, black and jet black.

Sophomores Savannah Schneider and Kreighton Meyers agree that the biggest change with the phone is that it doesn’t have a headphone jack.

“It’s a lot different when you want to play aux in the car and you can’t,” Schneider said.

Meyers, who had the iPhone 5 before upgrading, really likes it.

“I would recommend getting it,” Meyers said.

Schneider agrees, but for reasons such as the speakers are better and that it is water proof.

Senior Eric Rorstrom believes that the phone being waterproof is the biggest difference. After also coming from the iPhone 5, Rorstrom finds that there are many benefits to upgrading.

“It is much faster and brighter,” Rorstrom said. “It’s more functional and has better features than my old iPhone 5.”
