“Deadpool” movie review

“Deadpool” was released to theaters on Feb. 8. This R rated movie had a record box office opening, hauling in an estimated $135 million. Deadpool stars many well-known stars such as Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin and Ed Skrein.

In this antihero movie, mercenary Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) agrees to participate in a top-secret experiment after learning he has terminal cancer. In hopes to cure himself, he goes through extreme torture only to become horribly disfigured. However, these experiments also leave him with extraordinary healing abilities – including curing his cancer.  Fearing that his newfound relationship interest will not love him anymore because of his totally scarred face, he completely reinvents himself. Now known as Deadpool, (the wisecracking, spandex-wearing antihero) he seeks revenge on those responsible for disfiguring his face.

I absolutely loved this movie. It was full of hilarious jokes and slapstick comedy. There is also a bit of romance for people that are into that. I’ve been looking forward to this movie since playing the Deadpool video game. Ryan Reynolds did a fabulous job capturing Deadpool’s character, and the way they advertised the movie was great, too.

This movie is rated R, though. Which means if you’re under 17 you can’t get in without parental permission. I don’t think there is anything in this movie that any high school student hasn’t seen or heard before, but you definitely shouldn’t take your younger brother/cousin/sister. The profanity is outrageous and some of the scenes are a tad bit risqué. There isn’t all too much violence, but there is a heck of a lot of gore. So please, don’t take a younger person, complain about it being crude, and ruin it for the rest of us. All-in-all this is a truly hilarious movie, and I give it a 10/10. I can’t wait for the sequel.
