Lines crowded the stores and shoppers were on the move. Black Friday, Nov. 23, was a busy and stressful day for both workers and shoppers.
“I went to Wal-Mart, and we bought a Blu-Ray player for $60, on sale from $150,” freshman Elizabeth Emerson said. “We waited in line forever. The electronics line went from the back of the store to the front.”
Junior Christine Beougher shopped at The Mall and many other stores in town on Black Friday.
“I waited two hours in line to get a few good deals in Vanity,” Beougher said.
Not every high school student who wanted shop that day could though. Many students worked that day.
“I work at Salon Brands,” senior Mikayla Linn said. “My job was more chaotic than usual. Normally we don’t have as many customers at once, but it was constantly busy all day. Everything in the store was buy one get one free. It was interesting to see how many people came from out of town to shop at the Salon on Black Friday.”
Work for senior Gabriella Zimmerman was very chaotic that day. Rue 21 had a sale of buy one get one 50 percent off unless it was an extra value item.
“The interesting part was dealing with people that just gave a whole day to be thankful for what they had,” Zimmerman said. “Then they went and trampled each other for some clothes on sale.”
