The chili supper took place on Feb. 16 at Hays High. The event was put together by HHITA to show their creations to community members.

For the second year, Hays High Industrial Tech Association (HHITA) hosted a chili supper on Friday, Feb. 16. Students volunteered to help at the event, Michelle Thacker worked in the kitchen, and anyone could attend.

“I volunteered because I am a member of HHITA,” junior Josh Norris said.

This is Norris’s second year helping, so he did not get to help with the breakfast which was put together in the past.

This event was changed because the amount of work it took was too much for one person instructor Chris Dinkel said.

“The breakfast was quite an undertaking,” Dinkel said. “Abigail Dickinson’s parents always helped, but once their boys graduated, we couldn’t ask them anymore.”

At the chili supper, attendees had the opportunity to see the projects those involved in HHITA created, which is one of the reasons the event is put together.

“It’s a way to get students with community members and show off some of our stuff,” Dinkel said. “The interaction is always positive.”
