The boys basketball team defeated Garden City 65-38 at home on Friday night with a big game from senior Zack Gaughan.
Gaughan had 14 of his 27 points in the first half, as the Indians claimed a 21 point lead.
Hays couldn’t miss a shot as it finished with an astounding 72 percent shooting for the game.
In the fourth quarter coach Rick Keltner cleared his bench, which allowed Garden City to make the game closer.
Senior Chris Schultz held Garden City senior Cody Bernbeck to just four points, but he finished with 15 as he scored 11 points while Keltner played his bench.
The next game for the Indians is Thursday Feb. 24, which will be a make-up game against Dodge City.
