Cross Country participates in new meet at Hesston

The boys and girls cross country teams competed in an unusual meet at Hesston on Sept. 6. All freshman girls ran together, with the freshman boys race following. The meet continued in that order and finished the day with the senior boys race. The girls placed 8th out of 16 teams, and the boys placed 5th.

Freshman Haley George placed seventh with a time of 17:31. Sophomores Summer Smith and Mattie Schlaefli placed 11th and 16th with times of 18:07 and 18:29. Senior Arin Pfannenstiel placed 20th with a time of 18:20.

Freshman Ethan Bizzell placed seventh with a time of 20:05. Sophomore Konnor Buxton placed ninth in a time of 19:05. Juniors Austin Chambers, Landon Munsch, Kendall Kandt and Hunter Bizzell placed 10th, 12th, 17th and 20th in times of 18:03, 18:12, 18:32 and 18:36. Seniors Derek Drees and Joshua Brungardt placed third and eighth with times of 17:16 and 17:49.

The next race is at home on a new course at Hays High School on Sept. 13.
