“Government in Action Day” was hosted for the alternative students at The Learning Center and students of Abby Maska’s AP Government class. A portion of the day was spent with a guest speaker, Inga Stanneck Gross, a Nazi regime & Russian occupation survivor. Gross’s presentation began at 3:45 and lasted until 5pm at the Toepfer Board Room in the Rockwell Admin Center. Following the speech was a 61 question quiz over early America and our governing documents. There was $100 of prize money to be awarded to the several TLC and HHS students participating. First prize of $50 was awarded to senior Christopher Rooney. Second prize of $35 was awarded to senior Spencer McCue. Third prize of $15 was awarded to senior Anna Hickert. Also, Sondra Hickert, coordinator of the competition, received a $500 classroom grant from The Bill of Rights Institute that she presented to Abby Maska’s AP classes in regards to the Constitution Quiz Game.
